What would refusing to lean on your own understanding look like
“What would refusing to lean on your own understanding look like?”
I heard God drop this into my spirit this morning as I was back and forth between the coffee machine and my Bible.
It was on of those I ALMOST coulda missed it Holy Spirit invites which, as I began to look at it, unlocked MASSIVE revelation of where I’ve still been holding on.
Do you ever stop and actually assess which areas of your life right now YOU are still trying to run?
I was speaking at Kingdom Business event at my church a few weeks back, our first one for our new Biz Ministry actually, a ministry I’ve now been given leadership over (GOD MOVES!!), and which I am SO excited for the continued unfolding of.
Lemme tell you there is a WILD difference between Kingdom Business stuff that man puts together, and which God’s hand is clear on from the get go. Same as there’s a wild difference between His reign and rule and ours in any area!
Anyhow –
As I spoke, my words already submitted to God from the get go and therefore (per normal!) coming out as HE would have ’em come not me, I heard myself saying something which drew an audible WOAH from the seats.
This is direct from the recording transcript –
“But here’s what I prayed, and I want to bring it home with this for you. I knew enough to know – and your story might not be as messy as mine was – but maybe right now you know you’re holding on to stuff where, instead of allowing God to cover you or call you forward, you’re trying to cover yourself.
And you don’t want to let go of that area. Maybe because it’s made you money, maybe because it’s created impact, maybe even because it’s helped people. Okay, but you’re not Jesus. I had to learn that, I’m not Jesus. And I knew enough to know that the faster I let go, the better.
And so I prayed one simple prayer pretty much daily, and I still pray this prayer often.
But from the start of 2023, when all of this started to just fall and break through a law at the same time, I prayed, ‘Lord, break what needs breaking, take what needs taking, shake whatever can be shaken, because we know that if it can be shaken, it should be, and wake your right spirit within me,’ and I meant it.
And I prayed it again and again and again.”
I want to ask you today very seriously, because what could be more serious than refusing the supernatural grace and authority of God in ANY area of your life and instead moving pieces of death around and hoping it somehow eventuates in life?!
Where right now do you know you’re holding on to stuff which, instead of allowing God to cover you or call you forward, you’re trying to cover yourself?
You’re ASSUMING that if only you figured it out better.
Made it work better.
Put more EFFORT in.
Talked to the right people.
Did the legwork.
Or whatever!
That you’d get the outcome.
Funny thing is, often people like you and, who truly want the supernatural thing, GOD’S thing, we don’t even think about the fact that we are defaulting into our own lens.
We WANT to know God’s will and way for us.
We BELIEVE His ways are higher!
Yet we get up at times, or in certain areas, and instead of putting Christ on we put on > insert your name < and his or her understanding!
Then we bemoan to God the fact that things are still stuck there. All the while turning to the internet or our besties or just our own looping thoughts more than what we ACTUALLY turn to God.
So here is the real question:
What would it mean today to make it completely non-negotiable to do anything other than lean on and EXPECT the wisdom of God?
To totally and point blank refuse to even consider your own understanding, instead coming to Him and saying I’ll give ALL of me to you in this area, in every area, again Lord! And I will wait to receive your leading because I know you GIVE it.
God wants us to use every part of us, and the good things we have in this world, to learn, grow, create, think, and be.
But HE is the active ingredient. The rock. Our foundation. Our sure footing. Our power. Strength. Joy. And all access pass to SEE His Kingdom come, for His glory, in this part of your life!
Ya know?
And He WILL.
So pick up whatever it is you’ve still been taking charge over, with a side note nod to God now and again.
And declare you are now DONE with looking to your own understanding on this.
And then?
Just watch what He does.
Watch what He does!
